Intervento
In our rapidly changing global environment, the mission of education is to ensure all students can participate fully in public, community, and economic life. For the EFL teacher, this means moving beyond “mere literacy”, which remains centered on a singular, standardized form of language, and embracing a pedagogy of multiliteracies. This webinar explores the concept of “Designing Social Futures,” where students are viewed not as passive consumers of information, but as active designers and makers of meaning.
As communication shifts from the printed page to the screen, our students must navigate multimodal ensembles (entities that combine text, still and moving images, and audio) to communicate complex information. We will discuss how teachers can facilitate critical engagement by helping students decode these ensembles through various “lenses,” allowing them to negotiate the linguistic and cultural diversity of the modern world. By integrating visual literacy and the “design” of meaning into language tasks, we empower learners to succeed in their future workplaces, civic spaces, and private lifeworlds. Join us to discover how your classroom can become a site for students to transform their existing knowledge and shape their own social futures.
